For the love of dog

Our friend the dog is not always a poser, but occasionally you get a good shot in. Some are more willing than others to sit and let me take a million pictures to get just the right one. Like Duke here. He was quite the ham. He is one of the new Kalyra Winery dogs. Such a sweetheart!!!

Can he get any cuter?
I think this next one could use a thought bubble.
What a face!
The next two pics were taken while walking the streets of Portland, Oregon.
Adorable

Boom, Boom, Boom Woof

So Good!
This guy was sitting ever so patiently waiting for his master who was in the store shopping. What a good doggie!
What a sweetheart!
And then there's Lucy. She is just a puppy and quite full of energy. It was really hard to get a pic out of this one. She just doesn't sit still.....she's all excited!!!
LUCY!!!!

Precious

Love me, love my monkey
Another job perk is the puppies!!!! I love most of my pool puppies. I do have some barkers that won't shut up the entire time I'm there, but most of them are completely adorable. These two little cuties are Lola and Sophie. They are very happy to see me and can't wait for me to come in and say hello.
Nosy Little Girls
Sometimes you get the needy dog. When you call them to look at you, they can't just turn and look. They have to come over, so it's hard to get a still picture or not have them right in your face. I like Mally's little tongue action going on here.
Mally the Malamute....get it?

Looking straight through your soul
So many puppies to love.

Watch your step

You've got to love when your next "assignment" is just under your feet. Saturday morning walk - Library Route. I cross the street and look down as I walk right by what turns out to be today's subject. You don't know how many times I walk past something and do a double-take and turn around.

Years ago someone wrote an old pledge of love in the gutter cement. Who knows how long it's been there. I wonder...Are they still together? Did they get married? I hope it was a nice wedding. How many kids do they have? How old are they and are they now writing in cement?

Or.....was it just a passing flicker of young romance, now a lie immortalized in stone - how poetic. Was it a bad breakup or did they split amicably?

Nevertheless, I have a subject to talk about and share. So, if they are just a distant memory, it wasn't completely in vain.

E.V. and R.P.  Forever????

Then I walked around the park and what did I see....
Quack, Quack, Waddle, Waddle
A web-footed ducky walking past me!

You have to admit, you don't see duck prints everyday! I came home and told Billy "Well, I got my blog for Monday!" Usually I have to work a little harder than that.

Of course, I have other "under-foot" pictures to share. I thought I would throw a little color in. Sidewalks are so colorless.

So Artsy
You've heard about the fly on the wall, right? This one was on the ground up in Portland, Oregon.
Where's my fly swatter?
We like the Oscar's in our household, so we throw a party every year. Sometimes we dress up to root on our favorite movie that's up for an award. I came as a non-survivor of the Titanic. We roll out the red carpet (yes, I really have one) and make a big whoop-ti-do over it all. One year we pretended we were Graumann's Chinese Theater and we all put our names and footprints in cement. I think that was the year we even had a "valet/doorman". Mostly these days we just get together, eat and have a contest of who picks the most winners.

So, here's "The Walk"
The Walk

and a few of the "Stars" of the day
Some of the Stars
Yes, it is a butt print!
He went out after dark and sat in the cement.....coldy!!

Even the cat did it (he was not too happy about it)

Our Family
So, watch where you step. You may be trampling on art!

Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers

It's so funny how one completely random thing can send you on a path that you might otherwise have never gone down.

Take, for example, a rubber chicken. Now, normally I don't pay much attention to scattered dog toys around the yard, but when one is strategically placed in my way by man's best friend...suddenly it conjures up all sorts of photographic ideas.

What else is made of rubber? You all remember The Family Feud. Richard Dawson grossly kissing everybody and then yelling, "Give me the top eight answers for RUBBER ____________". I love word games!!! So, there went the rest of my day.

One rubber chicken coming up!
Not your mother's rubber chicken
And we can't forget this old standby.
RUBBER DUCKY

Richard, I like using Rubber Stamps! Show me Rubber Stamps!
RUBBER STAMPS

Great answer!!!! How about....Rubber Bands, Richard? Give us Rubber Bands!!
RUBBER BANDS
Fred? I'm going to say Rubber Raft/Tube. Is there a Rubber Raft/Tube???
RUBBER RAFT, TUBE???
"X" - EH (Loud buzzer sounding in the background). Nice try, Fred, but no cigar. Next. How about Rubber Tires. Let's see Rubber Tires!

RUBBER TIRES
I've got it....Rubber Gloves. Is there Rubber Gloves?
RUBBER GLOVES
How about Rubber Boots, Richard? Can we see the Rubber Boots!!!
RUBBER BOOTS
Yes, we have Rubber Boots! Now one more and you have it or we pass to Family B. So what's it going to be Greene family? Richard, I'm going to say Rubber Balls. Is that your final answer? Yes, that's my final answer. Do we have Rubber Balls? Show us Rubber Balls!!!!
RUBBER BALLS
And the Greene family wins this round and the crowd begins cheering....I always wanted to be on that game show.

Breaking up the old routine

Sad to say, but my usual morning walk is now becoming somewhat humdrum. Especially now that said walks have more of a mission than just shedding a few pounds. Problem: I need new things to photograph. On a brighter note, my amazing vocation affords me a four-day work week.

INSERT BRILLIANT IDEA HERE

I have, therefore, decided that on my one weekday off I will drive to a new location to cruise around after dropping my grandson off at school. Nowhere far, just a new and exciting neighborhood that offers fresh vistas and a little break in the monotony.

Having a new sense of discovery, I set out on my first weekly adventure. Off to the local botanical garden. A short 3/4 mile loop hike that hopes to bring me new and exciting things to check out.

Hitting the Trail
The following sign is quite appropo since currently I am fighting the urge to scratch my poison oak outbreak that I brought home from our wonderful camping trip last week. STAY ON THE TRAILS KIDS!
Duly Noted

Oak Leaf
Hello There Little Friend
I was randomly taking pics of a whole field of this particular plant and I happened to zoom in on this one that had a camouflaged stowaway.

Camouflaged

Seed Pods

Ray a Drop of Golden Sun
There are tags on most of these plants, but I failed to read them all, so I have no idea what they are. All I know is that they are pretty and/or interesting. Oh, and they photograph well.
I forgot to see what the name of this guy was

Candy Corn Anyone?

I really should have read the signs

I love nature.

Hey, Wait Just a Minute Mr. Postman

In my ultra-exciting line of work I am mostly in homeowners associations that require that mailboxes are rather similar as are the houses. Usually, I don't really notice these things plodding through my day, but as I was walking in my own neighborhood, definitely NON-H.O.A., I saw much more interesting roadside postal receptacles. We, in the everyday housing tract, are free to do whatever we want with our house paint and mailboxes. Within reason, I suppose.

Now, you can go snazzy or rustic, cute or crazy...whatever suits your fancy.

These two neighbors have a little competition going or maybe one just thought the other guy had a great idea and wanted to be just like him.

 Vintage Jalopy
Roadster
Then there are the people that really put all they've got out on the sidewalk.

Kickin' It

Don't be fooled by the next one. It is not your everyday, run-of-the-mill mailbox. It is a man-eating, blood-thirsty, take-no-prisoners evil metal machine. And I have a scar to prove it!

Notice Something Different?

Hello People!!

Sorry, but it has been a few days since my last blog. I went camping for the weekend and, of course, took more pictures. I have also been making internal changes here on Blog Central.  I have my own personal blog guru that I consult and she is taking me along in BABY STEPS to a better blog that will build my business....onward and upward!

First of all, I changed my logo a little and organized my "Brand". I am learning that it is important that all roads point to home, so to speak. I have also started to add a watermark to my photos. I read an article that explained the importance of watermarking your work -  how and why to do this. Made sense to me, so that's what I'm going to do.

So let's talk about my camping trip. We went to Lake Cachuma (no reservations required) and had a grand old time. I finally broke out my tripod and learned a few long exposure tricks from my other guru - my son-in-law, the computer and camera whiz.

I must share my FAVE's.

Look, I have night vision!
Orion's Belt (I think)

Buckle up for safety
Okay, now for a few fishing pics

Oh, and someday I will tell you about the fish that got away. Okay, now. There were three ginormous catfish that we almost landed, but they broke the lines....soooooo close.
