Florida Flashback

Since beach weather is upon us, I'm taking this opportunity to post our island trip to Florida. Never mind that it was back in October.

We got to tag along on our friends' family vacation. We stayed in a condo on the dunes of St. George Island off the gulf of Mexico.

Every morning I was up at 6:30, off to the beach to watch the sunrise and experience some new adventure. I was not disappointed.

I saw sea creatures, birds, and shells galore. The landscape was gorgeous. The clouds were incredible. We had fun on the beach. We went into town and did the touristy thing. Blah, blah, blah...This may take a few posts. Let's go in some kind of order. How about I start at the beginning.

This was just the drive in along the coast as the sun was starting to dip. If you squint, you can see the island off in the distance on the left horizon.

See, the Sun IS a Star!
We have arrived at our destination.

Walking out on the back balcony of the condo, this the view to the left.

Doesn't get much better than this

And this is the view to the right.

Did I mention the landscape was Beautiful?
Let's get this party started.

A glass of wine and a walk along the beach at sunset...heaven.
The view from the beach. Yup, we're the big one in the middle, uh huh.

A Beautiful Place
And don't forget the indoor fun.

Fun and Games
My first sunrise. What a peaceful setting...quiet, serene, glorious.

Just me and the Birds
Watching nature unfold in front of your eyes.

A fiery Sky
Witnessing the cycles of life that go on while everyone is still asleep and unaware.

Feeding Frenzy
Well, I was here to view it all.

Stamp of Approval

These next two pictures are straight out of the movie, Jaws. We did actually see sharks a few times right up close to the shore, but I never got a really good picture.

I should have drawn in a big fin.
White sands, weathered fence, swaying beach grasses, wispy clouds...fabulous!!!

Very East Coast
And as I walk back home, look who finally got up.

Back at the Ranch
You know, a vacation is never truly complete until you see the obligatory penguin in the fridge.

Cold Storage
Off to the beach for some fun in the sun.

So this is what we did most of the day.
A few vehicles to enjoy the water in.

Water Toys
Taking in the sea life. We were almost stepping on these guys all the time. I think it's called a skate.

Frisky Little Fellow
Um, excuse me, but you have a little sand on your foot.

Carrying a Load
 Watching a little fishing action.

Mine, Mine, Mine
Whatcha got there, Honey?

Enjoying a little Drinkypoo
In for some dinner.

Fresh Fish...yum
Out for some sunset.

Sleepy Time Sunset
And there you have our first 24 hours in paradise.

Ah, the end of a beautiful day.
This may be eight months late, but I certainly enjoyed reliving it.
