New Directions

So I finally figured out what to do with this blog....Took me long enough!!!!!

Just about every day I go on my morning walks, camera in hand. Don't want to miss anything!!!! So when something catches my eye, I'm ready. One day I took a picture and I really liked it and suddenly a lightbulb lit up in my head. Post it on my blog....duh!!!

I've seen those 365 - picture-a-day dealies and I thought "that's what I'll do!". So I will be posting my favorite pics. Not necessarily one every day. Not necessarily contest winners. Just a collection of my work that I can share with my fans-to-be. Stuff I find interesting and if nobody but me likes it, well, then that's okay too.

So here is the photo that inspired me:

Say Hello to my little friend
This picture was taken with my everyday camera. A Minolta DiMage G500 5.0 Mega pixels. I have this camera on me pretty much at all time, so I don't miss a thing. I will also be posting pics from my fancy-shmancy camera. A Canon EOS Rebel T3. I do Photoshop and Lightroom, but not always. This one is just cropped - no funny business.

As you can see, I like to get up close and personal and down and dirty to take pictures. Sometimes I just put my camera down on the ground and point and shoot till I get it right. I've also found that morning walks (6:30 a.m.ish) give wonderful lighting opportunities.

Like this one of a tree I walked past almost every day for two months and never noticed before this glorious moment:

Once-unnoticed Tree
So, now, join me in my journey through my camera lens. I hope you enjoy the ride!

Hello, Hello...is this thing on?

I love nature.  I love structure.  I love photography - not necessarily in that order.  So, why not put them all together and share it with others.  Oh, and I love sharing!

So, this is Who's Z? Creations

My name and logo stems from a story of when my grandson, Zachary, was just a baby. One morning I was sitting in his cute little room looking at his name made out of wooden letters spelled out on the wall. I got to thinking of everyone's first name in the family and wondered if I could cover the entire alphabet (big family).  I was relating the thought to my then-son-in-law and, only missing a few letters, went through the alphabet with a corresponding name. As I approached the end of the alphabet, he asks, "Who's Z?"..."um", I replied, "your son". Well, to this day we still use that line when someone has a Duh-moment...Sorry Chris.

I take pictures of letters in nature and structure and spell names-first and last. I frame them and give them as gifts or do it for you (for a price).  Here are a couple I have done:

This one, of course, is my beloved Zachy. Inspired by a happy accident that occurred when a picture I was taking of the letter "C" was double-exposed with the next picture I took of my cutey patootey.  Brilliant!!

This is one of my Name Frames given to friends for an anniversary gift.

As part of the evolution of the learning process, I discovered that I can also add borders and texts that accommodate smaller names.  This next one was given as a wedding gift and incorporated their names, wedding date and a scripture that was used in their ceremony.

That is all for now, but I'm just getting started here and have absolutely no idea how this blog thing works, so bear with me and watch it grow.
